Faces of Music

This project explores the intersection of portrait photography and music branding through the creation of original album cover designs. Each photograph was taken with the intent of capturing a mood that reflects the emotion, tone, and storytelling often found in music. By focusing on composition, lighting, and atmosphere, the covers convey both the individuality of the subject and the thematic weight of a fictional album. The final works highlight how photography can define the visual identity of music and influence how an audience connects to it.

Project Background

The assignment was inspired by professional album art photography and its role in shaping an artist’s image. I selected friends as models and worked with a variety of locations, from tunnels and stairways to natural outdoor settings, to create a range of moods. Each setup was planned to feel authentic while resembling the style of real musicians. The project challenged me to think beyond standard portraiture and consider how typography, layout, and design choices work together with the photograph to form a complete album cover.
